How to clean silk products?

Please read and follow the care instructions carefully if this is your first wash for silk products.  You will find that silk products are actually quite simple to care for, with just a little extra attention.

 Wash

Washing silk products needs to be in cold water. It is better to wash them by hand in cold water; a machine wash on a cold delicate cycle is also acceptable. Silk products need to be washed separately from other materials. For hand washing, simply use a gentle detergent for silk, dip the item in cold water and gently agitate it with your hands. Don't rub or scrub.Rinse the foam thoroughly. For machine washing, be sure to wash on a cold delicate cycle. All silk items should be washed in mesh laundry bag using a gentle silk detergent (preferably one specially formulated for silk).

Don’t use bleach, as bleach will damage the silk products and cause them to yellow.  Don't use fabric softeners either, as they can leave residue on the items.

 Dry

Never wring out your silks. Blot dry with a white towel. Line dry the silk products outdoors or indoors, but they all need to be out of sunlight. Avoid wooden drying racks that can leech dyes or stains into silk. We don't recommend putting silk sheets in the dryer since heat can damage the delicate silk fibers. If the dryer is absolutely necessary, only use the the "air" setting for 15 minutes or less without other fabric items or dryer balls, and check the condition every few minutes.
